Conference fever! McFarland Lab researchers presented at both CSC 2016 and ChemCon 2016

Four McFarland Lab undergraduates presented their research at Science Atlantic ChemCon 2016. Anderson Fuller gave his first poster presentation at a regional conference., Leah Bennett, Julia McCain, and Mitch Pinto all gave oral presentations. Leah presented her findings regarding “Synthesis and Characterization of Ruthenium and Osmium Coordination Complexes as Photosensitizers for Photodynamic Therapy”. Julia presented on “Synthesis and Characterization of Cyclometalated Ruthenium(II) Complexes for Applications in Photoactivated Cancer Therapy”, which won her the CIC Award for Best Undergraduate Oral Presentation in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry. Mitch presented “A Photophysical Investigation of Cyclometalated Ruthenium Compounds for Photodynamic Therapy” which won him the CIC award for Best Undergraduate Oral Presentation in Physical, Theoretical, or Computational Chemistry. Congratulations to the winners for their awards and all those who participated.

Eight McFarland Lab researchers and Dr. McFarland presented at the 99th annual Canadian Society of Chemistry’s (CSC) Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition. Leah Bennett, Julia McCain, Susan Monro, and Mitch Pinto gave poster presentations. Goutam Ghosh, Tariq Sainuddin, and Huimin Yin gave oral presentations.
